Tissington Trail Part 2

 Last Bank holiday week end was quite full on as we had a hack with our younger in Manor Farm Recreation Ground.

Le dernier week-end férié fut chargé commençant par une balade à cheval avec notre cadette.



The day after, it was too nice not to finish the Tissington Trail that we started on the previous bank holiday Monday, for another 20 km bike ride there and back.

Le lendemain, ce fût insolent de ne pas terminer le parcours de Tissington, entamé le précédent lundi férié. Encore 20 km comptant l'aller et le retour.






Possibility to divert to the Peak trail

Again, the views are amazing! It looked less busy than the other end, but equally ideal for walking or cycling with little ones. Perhaps that end is less popular as the options for a cuppa or a bite are almost non existant, unlike in Tissington. There is also a bike hire in Parsley Hay though.

La vue est tout aussi splendide que le long du segment opposé. Ce segment était quelque peu plus calme, mais tout aussi idéal pour une promenade avec des tout petits. Peut-être est-ce moins fréquenté dû au manque de salon de thé, contrairement à Tissington. Il est toutefois également possible de louer des vélos à Parlsey Hay.

Vacances d’été annuelles à Westward Ho!

 Bonjour à tous ! L’été touchant à sa fin, il est temps de partager ce que notre famille a traversé cet été. Pour moi, malheureusement ça a mal commencé dû à une chute de vélo et une fracture au bras qui m’a valu son immobilisation pendant plusieurs semaines, a compromis nos projets d’aventures, et la rééducation ne fait que commencer. Cela dit, pas question de renoncer à nos vacances à Westward Ho! , dans le Nord du magnifique comté du Devon. J’adore cet endroit mais cela m’étonne que toutes mes connaissances anglaises ne le connaissent pas. ("Isn't it that place with an exclamation mark in its name?") Nous avons été gâtés par le climat, mais bien entendu, la température de l’eau dépasse rarement les 17 °C. Certains portent des combinaisons pour se baigner, elles sont d’ailleurs disponibles à la location pour 10 £ pour deux heures je crois. One lovely hike : Ladybower reservoir / Derwent Dam

As mentioned in the previous post, I broke my arm about 5 weeks ago, and the rehabilitation process is only just starting. I really miss my bike that I obviously  cannot use anymore, but still go for easy enough hikes with my young family. Shortly after we came back home from Devon, my husband saw that the circuit around Ladybower Reservoir, about 40 miles away, was nominated amongst the best hikes in England. We decided to go for it, as the weather was lovely and the difficulty sounded OK for me. Needless to say the view was breath-taking, it reminded me of a school trip to the Black Forest in Germany over 20 years ago. We saw a few families on bikes that could be hired from a nearby shop, but still quite a few people were also on foot.
